Looking for a good person in KL to get creative ideas for your wedding invitations? We went to The Wedding Hub. The Wedding Hub is really a place where all the different vendors have a collective space to give you everything that you need to find out about your wedding (be it makeup, dresses, invites, favours, etc etc). We met Debra to get a quote on our wedding invitations. She represents Acadia - personalised wedding invitations.

The first impression, extremely friendly and bubbly person to talk to. We only need to explain our theme to her, and give her the full details of our venue etc, and she comes up with 3-4 different designs to suit our theme (and budget!). Personal review, perhaps not the cheapest price you can get, but definately friendly to work with...

Recently, a new restaurant opened at 3 Two Square. It is a local sandwich cafe that specializes in sandwiches, spaghetti as well as coffee. Some of their more interesting ones include satay sandwich, curry pineapple chicken sandwiches as well as otak-otak sandwiches! Interesting isnt it?

Its called Jaads Sandwiches - opposite the UMW Toyota showroom.

They have quite a variety of sandwiches, so do take your pick!

A very pleasant interior. Clean setting. By the way, they do free delivery to within 3 Two Square as well.

Between Starbucks and Coffee Bean, which do you prefer? I still like Starbucks. Not really into Coffee Bean. Purely for the reason that Starbucks is cooler . I must be every marketing guy's dream come true because I'm so nubile and stupid to fall for stupid marketing gimmicks.

Green tea frappucino. Raspberry ice.

I've always ordered the raspberry when my tummy feels rather full. Tried the green tea frappucino for the first time. Smooth and rich, can feel it expanding my waist line with every gulp or so. It wasn't too sweet and did taste of green tea.

Blueberry cheese cake. It didn't have that dense but soft texture . Not as cheesy as I expected . Little blueberries in the middle break the monotony of the cheese.

Here's a good news to all you, Starbuck aficionados. Or to all you el-cheapos.

When I first heard of Sinfully Chocolate, I thought they would be selling, well, chocolates. So you can imagine how surprised I was when I was greeted with breads and pastries at the cafe instead. On top of that, Sinfully Chocolate were also serving food which comes in set lunch at the price of RM 9.90 each.

The Aglio Olio spaghetti was really tasty. There was a light yet tasty flavour to it.

I was never a fan of Aglio Olio until I tried this one. The finer strands of spaghetti (angle hair) tends to take in more flavour. The bacon was nicely cooked and goes well the the garlic and sundried tomatoes.

I also like the fact that they included some fresh salad and a potato bread.

Overall this is a definitely a thumbs up meal!

The Spaghetti Bolognese was equally good as well. The richness of the bolognese sauce was the number one reason why I really love it.

Minced chicken, diced tomatoes and a mixture of green and yellow pepper made this meal really tasty.

For RM 9.90, you can’t really go wrong with the food at Sinfully Chocolate. The portion is huge and the taste is great.

If you are looking for a great meal at a reasonable price, Sinfully Chocolate would fit the bill nicely. Two thumbs up.

I've always been a fan of sauna and steam baths, of which I am lucky enough to go anytime I please to the ones available in my gym.

Apart from saunas, the way for me to start off a good week is always by massages. Yes sirree, I go for body massages and reflexologies pretty damn often and I now swear by it

Hey. It's healthy and our bodies need it!

Hence, it was rather fortunate and surprising when I was invited to experience a different kind of sauna and massage altogether.

Now, how different can it be? I pondered prior to my visit to FIR Wellness Spa in Dataran 32, Petaling Jaya.

The huge signage greeted me the moment I stepped in

The interior decor was simple yet rustic.

I loved how natural elements and earth colour tones dominated the spa center

The display of essential oils atop the table

The boss ST Chua was nice enough to give me a short walkthrough, showing me around the center. He was such a friendly person!

Apart from being very professional and informative explaining each and everything to me, best part was he was very funny with a great sense of humour too!

Anyway, I found some decor hanging on the wall similar to the ones I have back at home!

It was exactly the same but ours was in the form of a table runner and some framed up swatch of carpet.

I found out that FIR wellness uses Malaysian coconut oils in their massages! How ethnocentric

There are other essential oils such as Lemongrass and Lavender as well

They sell 'em for only 20bucks!

No wonder the place smells so damn good!

It was cooling and well lit as I walked around the insides of the center. On my right, were a number of rooms meant for the saunas.

Individual rooms for privacy! I could see the wooden Far Infra Red sauna machines inside too.

A very amusing thing I discovered was that all the rooms were named after wood types!

The ones I could remember were Oak and Maple

Before I knew it, it was time for me to enter the FIR sauna.

I was supposed to sauna for about 30 minutes before going for the Sarawakian Deep Tissue massage.

Such a spacious sauna – more than what 1 person needs

I was allowed to bring magazines and my Blackberry into the room as well whoopedoo

There was this radio thing playing during the sauna session too. The amount of benefits an FIR sauna can bring is unbelievable!

Perfect for a remedy of de-stress

In this sauna, we can adjust and control our own temperature!

So different from other saunas! Different from conventional saunas where the heat is more than 180F (82 Celsius) in which one may feel choked and uncomfortable.

Among the stuff I remember the lady (on the radio) saying was that it is good for cell rejuvenation, highly effective for body aches and pains, burns calories, improves skin texture, improve blood circulation and detoxifies our bodies!

There's also this wave technology radiates all around to ensure you have full body coverage

Whoaa was sweating all over lor!

So after drying up and cooling down, I was ushered to the quieter parts of the room.

It was time for my Sarawakian Deep Tissue Massage – my masseur happens to be a true Kuching local of Sarawakian origin!

Ya ought to be quiet as there are other patrons having their massage sessions too

I wouldn't like it if I get rudely awaken by obnoxious people talking LOL

I was told that his massage helps release adhesions (knots) and targets specific areas of discomfort that needs attention.

All their Deep Tissue Massage sessions are performed by professional masseurs from Sarawak. Yay! We all need a true blue Malaysian massage amidst all the Balinese, Chinese, Thai and god-knows-what-other massages

So I got in, stripped (yes we're supposed to) and laid down on the massage bed to wait for my masseur

If you are kinda prudish or conservative then you can always opt to strip down to your undies instead of being completely au natrale

Let the massage begin!

Sarawakian Deep Tissue massage uses a special technique to access deeper tissues of our body structures

Parts which have never been massaged before!

There were combining sweeping strokes used to create a unified and balance session and helping to relax the nervous system.

I tried so hard not to fall asleep as it was so relaxing! I wouldn't wanna waste a good session like that by sleeping it away, right?

She was damn pro OMG! Some parts of my overstressed anatomy was kneaded real hard

I kept requesting for her to use all her mighty strength as I have a high pain threshold

But she never failed to ask me if her pressure is fine or whether I feel comfortable at any point. Yes. Pain is good (for me)! If you prefer something milder you can always ask. I'm sure she'll gladly oblige.

She's such an accommodating and soft spoken person!

It was a FULL body massage alright. Everything! From top to toe, back and front.

Except well… don't expect anything unscrupulous! *wags finger*

This ain't some dodgy ya-know-what massage parlour. Haha! So yes, I had an exceptional afternoon that day trying out something very new (and fabulous) to me. Thank you for a great stress-free week ahead woots!

I have blogged about the delicious Roti Canai at Restoran Ravi’s numerous times before. Simply put, their roti canai is one of the best I have tasted so far. The texture is soft and ‘airy’ as it is made fresh while the curry fish is spicy. One of my favourite Saturday morning breakfast meal.

YOU do not necessarily have to travel to Bangkok to satisfy your taste for Thai cuisine as Bangkok House in Petaling Jaya aims to bring in the authentic flavours of the Land of Smiles.

Bangkok House general manager Farah Hassan, who is of part Thai parentage, hopes to provide authentic Thai cuisine to customers. That means the spicy dishes will have a fiery kick.

Sweet treats: Be spoilt or choice with the variety of desserts such as (clockwise from left) Mango with Sticky Rice, Thai Cendol, Red Cube Water Chestnut in Coconut Milk, assorted Thai desserts of the day and Look-Choob.

“Some Thai restaurants alter the food to suit local tastes so it is difficult to get authentic Thai cuisine. “Most of what you can find in Bangkok, you can find here,” she said.

They first started operations in 2003 in Pandan Indah, Cheras. “We have changed the menu twice, in 2005 and 2009. There’s more variety now. “We also provide catering services to hotels and convention centres. Some order our desserts for events at the convention centres.” The best compliment they received from a customer was, “Finally I don’t have to go to Bangkok for authentic Thai cuisine.”

Most of the customers are locals, with the lunch crowd comprising those working around the area and families during dinner time and weekends, while Thai customers make up for 20%.

“We have some regular Thai customers who like the choices of food and taste. “They sometimes request for something special that is not in the menu, especially those who made group bookings. As long as there is advance notice, our chef would gladly oblige,” said Farah, adding that the sous chef and pastry chef are from Bangkok. There are seven types of salads to choose from but the most popular one would be the Som Tam (green papaya salad), with a choice of chicken or beef.

Seafood lovers will have a ball with the food offered such as the stir-fried crabs, Hoi Maengphu Horapa (stir-fired mussels with sweet Basil and chilli), and fresh water prawns. The Tom Yam, a flavoured concoction that scores a thumbs up, is good to go with rice or enjoyed on its own. The spices add to the aroma and each mouthful is a mixture of flavours.

seconds.

The chef’s speciality includes Pla Boh-Ran, which is fried Siakap fish topped with lemongrass, ginger and the chef’s special sauce, is one of the dishes I enjoyed. According to Farah, the Kae Paneang, pan grilled lamb topped with Bangkok House gravy, is a favourite among customers.

“We added this to the menu last year as some customers do not take beef or seafood. Be spoilt for choice with the variety of desserts such as Mango with Sticky Rice, Red Cube Water Chestnut in Coconut Milk, Thai Cendol, assorted Thai dessert of the day, and Look-choob, which are desserts with mung bean fillings made into miniature fruit and vegetables.

The colourful Look-choob (RM10 for a set of eight) are often ordered for special occasions like door gifts at a wedding and they need to be pre-ordered. Bangkok House has relocated from their Pandan Indah outlet to Shah Alam early this year. Farah and her co-partners are looking into opening a branch in Ampang or Damansara by the end of the year.

“We are still looking for a suitable place with convenient parking,” she said.

A very long overdue post on a nice delicious restaurant in 3 Two Square - Bangkok House.

Due to the extremely panas weather recently , i can only eat in restaurants or in office. UV Perfect can protect my face lah, but the panas-ness is making eating a chore, when it should not be. On one of such lunch, me, Ah Lian, PMT and Aby decided to check out 3 Two Square in PJ . Our initial plan was to eat at Papa Rich but as we were coming in we saw a nice quaint new restaurant which looks promising.

As the name implies, this restaurant serves Thai food, and i must say that this is one of the best Thai restaurant that i have been to! - Fresh ingredients, good use of spices and liberal use of coconut milk makes this place simply heavenly.

On with the drool worthy food!

Kangkung Belacan - Definitely good - flavourful and yummy , my only complaint is that there is not enough kangkung given, especially with the price they charge. I wish it was a bigger portion though.

Tom Yum Chicken - Mildly spicy Tom Yum - this is the red version with coconut milk in it. I wish it was spicier, but it is a MUST HAVE!

Green Curry Chicken - This has got to be one of the top Green Curry i have ever tasted. The spices were just marvelous and the gravy thick and full of coconut milk goodness, and the taste and smell of basil permeating in every sip - heaven! It was so good that i was sipping the gravy like soup. I miss this already...

Chicken Laab - Me and Ah Lian agreed that this is a very very good version of Laab - the last time we had this was on the floating market in Bangkok, and that was panty wetting! This version is amazing as well, and i will definitely eat this again...and again...and again...LOL!

The only downside of this place is the dessert is really disappointing , they look amazing but the taste is either so-so or not delicious at all. Another gripe is that the food is rather expensive. But that is off-set with the deliciousness of the food - be ready to pay for the heavenly taste!

Overall, the food here reminds me of the food that you can find on the streets of Bangkok - delicious, flavorful and definitely memorable- i would recommend Bangkok House to everyone!

Hailam Kopitiam opened its doors today at 3 Two Square, PJ. My colleagues and I went there today for lunch. There is a 10% discount for the opening and it was crowded.

I ordered the Chicken Chop with black pepper sauce and kopi peng. I like the taste of the chicken chop and the coffee, to me it is better than Old Town's.

Since it is the start of business, the service was not good.

There was one order for eight of us. But the food came one at a time. Yes, one food dish, one drink, one food etc etc you get the idea. Other customers who came in later, got their food earlier than us. After much complain to the waiters, waitresses and the 'bosses', out food finally came, one at a time, over a period of 1 hour. :-(

They need time to settle down and get themselves organized. Don't take too long, or not your customers will move on. Its my first time patronizing Hailam kopitiam. I would usually go to Old Town Kopitiam as they are everywhere. Now there are 3 kopitiams here in 3 Two Square, Old Town, Pappa Rich and Hailam. More choices for us.

There is no picture of the food, I just dug in when my food came. I was so hungry.

Is it a gimmick? Sorry for the long holiday on food stuff, its been a while i have not written anything about food or seriously about the basic thing that i love in my travels which is food.When visiting Kuala Lumpur, if thats the right term for me to say, one finds lots of cuisines that you may choose from, however it still depends on the traveling individual as to how daring his / her taste buds can get to the locale food fair.

One of this cuisines you find popular in Malaysia would be Indian food or famously coined for as "Banana Leaf".. I stand corrected on this. Many will claim that they serve Authentic Indian food and have the best tasting, I wouldn't really know. I have never been to India yet, the closest place i got in proximity to India is the city of Lahore in Pakistan, which is 50km from Amritsar India.

There is a new place to satisfy one's pallete for exotic Indian cuisine, the shop is called "Ravi's Banana Leaf", located at Dataran 3 Two (32 Square) 19/1 Petaling Jaya.

Ravi's has quite a list of gastronomical delights on their menu, having flown in cooks (most important of all) direct from select states of India, in order to deliver a variety of specialties known in parts of the country to their patrons. There are a few personal faveforites that i am able to mention, a known signature in their menu is the "claypot prawn masala." (i don't want to get technical on the recipe, all to say it's heavenly spicy)

Something I have not seen in other banana leaf shops that i've gone to, this makes Ravi's unique in comparison to other shops. The breakfast line up is a must get to try, features the famous Roti canai to the tose, which is served with a selection of pesto sauces and the traditional dahl, and assortments of curry gravies of your choice.

What to expect at Ravi's, a sure guaranty of freshly cooked food and nothing of yesterday's left overs, expect their waiters and kitchen staff eager anxious to get you what you want from the menu, (you may be surprised to later find out you've been waited on by the owner, i wont mention names. I've had a few short chat's with the owner, a very nice and humble natured person), expect a little of confusion sometimes on orders with some waiters (language slang difference) which i'm sure will be gone in no time.

Remember as i've mentioned, majority of Ravi's staff were brought in from India, to serve authentic cuisines of the country, expect the confusion with waiters as temporary and a reason for one not to come back to this place. "Expect the place to be packed specially during lunch", expect to cue up for a table by lunch... (Malaysian saying, "when there is a cue, the food is good") expect pricing to be reasonable when benchmarked local pricing in the area (for a feast like this i find it cheap)
for those clueless on what "banana leaf" dinning refers too, i need not say more... so the next time you got a craving for this stuff, whether you are around Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya ... you got to try Ravi's Banana Leaf ... bet ya its worth the trip. (also have a go with the "mutton varuval" and fried fish tenggiri) till next time, i'm out of here..

I thought why not post something away from Dubai? After all, it's been weeks I'm ranting on and on what goes on in Dubai that I felt so bored of it at this point of time today. So, I decided it's time to clear some backlogs on the stuff I did before I left for Dubai. KY had already posted the review and no prize for guessing why I was there. Thanks to KY for inviting me. Grace was there too! So it was 2 smart girls against 1 not-as-smart guy (except the host). You-know-who....

Tram Car is actually Shiang's family owned restaurant and I managed to meet him once at Hennessy Artistry in Aloha months back. That night itself, only I realise that his cousin happened to be my classmate in my college days. What a small world. FYI, Cable Car, Windmill and Tram Car are all related in some way. This newly opened cosy restaurant is situated in Jaya32 in PJ. Where is that you asked me? I don't know. KY showed me the way and probably you can read his post to look at the "colourful" map he has always been posting for every food review.

Since he had been so detailed on showcasing the food that we have eaten that night, I might as well highlight the recommended dishes in my own humble opinion.

A very nice Fresh Shrimps Cocktail with home made salad dressing and topped with generous portions of ebiko at RM8.90.

Delicious garlic Escargots at RM13.90 per half dozen.

I had this baked fish with white sauce and cheese served with baked whole potato and salad (RM17.90).

Grace had her Seafood platter with tartar sauce at RM27.90

This combination of Watermelon and lychee rocks. It's so refreshing and cooling after a hearty meal.

Tram Car has an extensive menu from Steaks, Seafood, Poultry, Local Cuisine, Chinese Cuisine to desserts. It was indeed a good place for gatherings because everyone can have their own pick. The place offers a very cosy ambiance with dimmed lightings for that extra romantic feeling. The pricing is just affordable and if you have any complaints, you can always write to KY so that he can let his buddy know about it! Haha....

Not to forget the picture of the two beautiful ladies that accompanied the guys for dinner. This picture will definitely make any food looked good and sizzling hot! We had really good conversations that night. Partly was intelligent and partly was nonsence. You can read his post here.

My futsal buddy (don’t judge a person by his look, he’s a much better player than me) Shiang has been asking me for a dinner at his family restaurant Tram Car for quite a while. I finally managed to find time and two pretty ladies and headed there some two weeks ago for dinner.

Tram Car is actually run by the same people who ran the old Cable Car at Jaya just down the road (now Jaya 33)

Tram Car, the “new” Cable Car

Grace, Eiling, and I met Shiang at the restaurant on a Thursday night and business was pretty brisk. The restaurant is located just opposite the big Toyota showroom and service center at Seksyen 19 so you actually have a choice of pretending to be a pontential Toyota buyer and park your car there for free, or by the road, or pay for it at Jaya 32 for a safer choice.

Escargot, prawn cocktail, soups

We started off with garlic breads, salad, and a dozen escargot. The garlic breads were actually pretty nice, but I only had a bite in order to save my stomach for more. Escargot is always one of my favorites and I think I must have had close to half a dozen snails to myself while the girls finished the rest. I like the cream sauce that goes with it.

Next came three bowls of soup, sharks fin with crab meat, oxtail soup, and French baked onion. I find the soups pretty thick, and if I try to finish the whole bowl I probably could fill my stomach pretty good with the accompanying garlic bread and salad without going for the main course. They are, however, pretty flavorful though.

The nicest appetizer we tried was actually the shrimp cocktail. Generous portion of prawn on fresh vegetables with home made thousand island dressing and topped with ebiko. The dressing tasted very sinful and I think the ebiko is a really nice touch.

I think I was already half full when the main dishes came. Eiling got the baked fish (which is covered with white sauce and mushroom, plus a baked potato), Grace had the seafood platter, and I went for the the steak combo.

I took a bite of the baked fish (kurau filet), though aesthetically not very pleasing, I must say it actually tasted pretty nice. The steak combo I had was very rich, with two huge tiger prawn that are absolutely delicious, and a piece of steak that proved to be a bit too much for me. The seafood platter was not bad at all either, according to Grace.

Tram Car priced themselves rather reasonably. The soups are from Rm 6.90 to 11.90, baked fish, seafood platter, and mixed grill are RM 17.90, 27.90, and 45.90, a dozen escargot for RM 26.90. Well, you get the idea.

Other than western foods, there are plenty of local delights like fried rice and various noodle dishes too. There are also lunch specials at RM 14.90 (and lunch can be quite packed)
